Overview

This Fair Use Policy ("Policy") governs the use of Remode's subscription services, particularly the Remode Pro plan. This Policy is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service.

Remode is designed for personal, non-commercial use to help individuals discover and shop for fashion items. Our Fair Use Policy ensures that all users have equitable access to our services while protecting our infrastructure and maintaining service quality.

Scope

This Policy applies to all Remode users, with specific provisions for:

  • Free users (3 searches total, then paywall)
  • Credits users (Essential: 15 searches; Curator: 30 searches)
  • Pro subscribers ($9.99/month with specific usage limits)
  • Business plan users (future offering with different terms)

Remode Pro — Fair Use Envelope

Usage Limits

Remode Pro subscribers are entitled to:

  • Hard cap: Up to 600 searches per calendar month
  • Soft guidance: Designed around ≈20 searches per day average usage
  • Soft throttle: Usage exceeding 30 searches per day may be queued with a brief delay (~2 minutes)

What This Means

  • Typical use: If you search for fashion items regularly throughout the month, Pro is perfect for you
  • Heavy use: Occasional days with 25-30 searches are fine; we'll process them smoothly
  • Excessive use: Consistently high-volume usage (30+ daily) may trigger brief queuing to ensure fair access for all users
  • Monthly reset: Your search quota resets on the same day each month as your subscription renewal

Prohibited Uses

The following activities violate this Fair Use Policy and our Terms of Service:

Automated Access

  • Using bots, scripts, or automated tools to access Remode services
  • Scraping, crawling, or systematically downloading content or data
  • Using browser automation tools (Selenium, Puppeteer, etc.) to interact with Remode
  • Circumventing rate limits or technical restrictions

Commercial Use Without Authorization

  • Reselling or redistributing Remode search results or data
  • Using Remode to power commercial services or applications without a Business plan
  • Bulk searching on behalf of third parties
  • Integrating Remode into commercial products or services

Account Sharing & Abuse

  • Sharing account credentials with multiple users
  • Creating multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits
  • Using VPNs or proxies to evade geographical restrictions or rate limits
  • Reverse-engineering our API endpoints or attempting to access private interfaces

Data Mining & Asset Extraction

  • Mass-downloading product images or retailer data
  • Building competing databases or services using Remode data
  • Extracting structured data for commercial purposes
  • Using Remode to train competing AI models

Enforcement & Consequences

Detection

We monitor usage patterns to detect violations, including:

  • Abnormal request volumes or frequencies
  • Suspicious access patterns (e.g., rapid sequential requests)
  • Multiple accounts from the same device or IP address
  • Automated behavior signatures

Progressive Response

Depending on the severity and frequency of violations, we may:

  1. First violation (minor): Warning email with explanation
  2. Repeated violations: Temporary soft throttling or account suspension (24-72 hours)
  3. Serious violations: Immediate account suspension pending investigation
  4. Egregious violations: Permanent account termination and potential legal action

Suspension & Termination

  • We reserve the right to immediately suspend or terminate accounts engaging in abuse
  • Terminated accounts forfeit all remaining subscription time and credits without refund
  • Repeat offenders may be permanently banned from creating new accounts

Appeals & Support

If You Believe There's Been a Mistake

We understand that technical issues or unusual but legitimate usage patterns can sometimes trigger our monitoring systems.

To appeal a suspension or limitation:

  1. Email us at support@remode.app with:
    • Your account email
    • Description of your use case
    • Explanation of the flagged activity
  2. We will review your case within 2-3 business days
  3. If the restriction was in error, we will restore full access and may add compensation

Legitimate High-Volume Use Cases

If you have a legitimate need for higher usage than Pro allows:

  • Business plan (coming soon): Offers higher limits for commercial use
  • Enterprise licensing: Contact business@remode.app for custom arrangements
  • Research & academic use: Contact us to discuss special accommodations

Personal, Non-Commercial Use Definition

✅ Acceptable Personal Use

  • Finding fashion items for yourself or as gifts
  • Building personal wishlists or mood boards
  • Discovering new brands and styles for personal shopping
  • Sharing individual results with friends in conversations
  • Occasional searches on behalf of family or friends

❌ Prohibited Commercial Use

  • Running a personal shopping service or styling business using Remode
  • Bulk searching for e-commerce store inventory
  • Building fashion recommendation tools or apps
  • Providing "Remode-powered search" as a service to clients
  • Systematic data collection for market research or competitive analysis

AI Model Training & Data Use

Your Uploaded Images

  • We process uploaded images solely to provide search results
  • Images may be used for AI model improvement in anonymized, aggregated form
  • You can opt out of AI training use in Settings → Privacy → "Exclude my images from AI training"
  • Opting out applies to future uploads; past data already used in aggregate training cannot be individually removed from trained model weights

Retention

  • Uploaded images are cached up to 30 days for performance and debugging
  • If you opt out of AI training, we process your images only for search delivery, then delete per retention policy

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Fair Use Policy to:

  • Clarify ambiguous terms based on user feedback
  • Address new abuse patterns or technical capabilities
  • Adjust usage limits based on infrastructure capacity or business needs

Notice of Changes:

  • Material changes will be announced in-app and via email (if subscribed)
  • Continued use of Remode after changes indicates acceptance
  • If you disagree with changes, you may cancel your subscription per our Terms of Service
