Remode

How do I compare new and second-hand designer bag prices?

In Remode’s iPhone app, compare new and pre-loved bag listings when found, then check the model and the condition the seller describes. The Gucci GG Marmont example showed $1,750 new with tags and $950 pre-owned in the US on 6 Oct 2026, before fees; it is a dated comparison, not a market valuation.

Browser photo search, no account needed: new matches. Pre-loved options show up in the iPhone app.

Pick a piece in the app

Start with a photo

Remode detects pieces in an outfit photo, including wide-leg brown trousers.

Remode detects fashion pieces in the photo. Choose the item you want to find offers for. Other detected pieces can be searched separately.

Actual app example: choose a detected fashion piece. The search is for that item.

How to find the piece

  1. Identify the bag from a photo or product link. Confirm its model, dimensions, material, color and code before comparing prices.
  2. Compare new and pre-loved listings for that model in the iPhone app. Read the condition notes and look for repairs in the photos; the same model can have different wear.
  3. Check today’s price, delivery, fees and return terms at the seller. Judge the full purchase, not only the difference in item prices.

What to know

These are asking prices from the date shown, not current offers or completed sales. The seller describes the used bag as like-new, cleaned, with the GG emblem replaced. Authenticity, condition and delivery were not independently checked. Same model does not mean the same condition or a promised saving.

Start with the model, not the discount

A bag comparison begins with a precise description. Write down the brand, model, dimensions, material, color and hardware. A small leather Marmont is a different buying decision from a larger bag or a canvas edition, even when every title says Gucci Marmont. If you have the original product page, keep its code and photographs as the reference. If you only have a street photo, use it to search, then treat unproven matches as leads rather than product facts.

Ask the resale seller for the information the reference contains. A photograph of the label or code can help compare identity, but a code copied into a listing title is still a seller statement. Check that the listing photographs show the relevant details. Exact in Remode requires hard product-product details and proof. Same model says less: it does not establish that a used physical bag has the same condition, accessories or history as the new example.

Do not add the price difference to the model decision. A cheaper listing can be a useful alternative, but the lower price cannot turn that alternative into the original. If the size or material is wrong for you, its price does not answer your question.

The Gucci Marmont example: separate US listings, 6 Oct 2026

The existing Remode example compares two Poshmark listings described by their sellers as a black small Gucci GG Marmont, code 443497DTDIT1000. On 6 Oct 2026 the new-with-tags listing showed $1,750 and the pre-owned listing showed $950, both in USD. The item-price difference was $800 before fees. These are historical asking prices from separate listings, not Gucci’s official retail price, today’s price, a completed sale or a promised saving.

The pre-owned seller described the condition as like-new and said the bag had been cleaned and its GG emblem replaced. Those facts matter to the comparison even though the model description agrees. “Same model” does not erase a repair or make two bags the same individual piece. Decide whether replacement hardware and the seller’s stated history meet your requirements, then ask for the detail photographs needed to judge them.

Condition, authenticity, current availability and delivery are not independently verified by this example. The source pages showed an in-stock status and a Buy Now button when checked; checkout and delivery to Germany, Austria or Switzerland were not tested. Treat this as a dated method example, then run your own search and check the shop. It does not demonstrate a Hunt or a delivered notification.

Read condition and seller terms separately from identity

Compare the corners, handles, strap attachments, fastening, lining and hardware in the seller’s photographs. Look for a photograph of the actual bag rather than relying only on a brand image. Ask what is included: a strap, dust bag, packaging and receipt may matter to your decision. Missing accessories can change the practical cost even if the bag itself has the model you want.

A condition word such as excellent or like-new is the seller’s description. It does not tell you how much wear appears on the base or whether a repair changed the original material. Request close photographs and written clarification where the images do not answer your question. If the information remains incomplete, that uncertainty belongs in the decision rather than being hidden inside an attractive price.

Read the marketplace’s protection, authentication and return terms for the particular transaction. An match label from Remode is not an authenticity certificate, condition inspection or protection promise. A lower price does not resolve missing provenance, and a higher price does not prove authenticity. If authenticity is essential and the listing cannot support it, use a route with terms and evidence you can check.

Compare the checkout total for your country

The numbers beside listings are item prices as observed, not the full cost of receiving the bag. Check shipping, seller or marketplace fees, taxes or import charges and the currency at checkout. For a Swiss shopper, a USD example is not a CHF offer and does not establish that the seller sends to Switzerland. For a German shopper, a US price is not the landed cost in Germany.

Compare amounts in the same currency or use the actual payment conversion shown by your payment provider. Remode does not promise a converted all-in amount. Confirm what a return would cost and whether returns are allowed for this seller; those conditions can make a nominally cheaper listing less suitable for you. If a repair or replacement accessory is necessary, account for that separately.

A region-aware result helps you choose a route to inspect. It is not a guarantee that the precise listing can be shipped to your address today. Open the seller’s page and check the current terms before paying. Stock and price can change between a search and checkout, particularly for a one-off pre-owned bag.

A lower asking price is a comparison, not a valuation

Remode helps you see buying options for the piece, but it does not certify fair market value or forecast resale value. Asking prices show what sellers request; they do not prove what comparable bags actually sold for. A single new listing and one pre-owned listing cannot establish a market price for every Marmont.

Build a shortlist of the same model and variant in a comparable condition. Compare what is included, what is repaired and the seller’s terms before comparing the number. If you cannot establish those details, keep the offers separate instead of calculating a supposed saving for identical products. You can decide to pay more for the option that better fits your condition and return requirements.

If neither listing is right, keep the reference and look again. In the iPhone app you can explicitly start a Hunt for a lower price or second-hand option and check its confirmation. It does not promise future stock, an alert time or a profitable resale. Waiting remains a choice you control.

Common questions

Is $950 a fair price for a Gucci Marmont?

The dated example cannot establish fair market value. It was a US seller asking price on 6 Oct 2026. Compare the same model, variant, condition and seller terms with other listings, then confirm the full cost.

Does the $1,750 example represent Gucci’s retail price?

No. It was a separate Poshmark new-with-tags asking price in USD. It is not Gucci’s official retail price or a current offer.

Does Same model mean identical condition?

No. The used seller said like-new, cleaned and GG emblem replaced. Identity and condition are separate; the example does not independently verify authenticity, condition or delivery.

Are shipping and import fees included?

No. The $800 item-price difference was before fees. Check shipping, import costs and currency at checkout, especially when shopping from Switzerland or another country.

Can I ask Remode to keep looking for a bag?

Yes. Explicitly start a Hunt in the iPhone app, or through ChatGPT with a linked Remode account. Check its confirmation. The website chat does not start Hunts, and no price, match or timing is promised.
