How we test Remode on real photos.

Every claim on this site about what Remode finds should be checkable. This page shows the method, the photos, the exact results and the numbers behind the "Tested on real photos" boxes on our guides. Last run: 4 September 2026.

What we measured, and what we did not

We ran 16 images through the production Remode search, the same endpoint the app and the browser trial use, from a browser-equivalent client with a fresh guest identity every three searches. 16 searches completed; 0 images could not be downloaded from their source and are not counted. The photos are our own product assets plus openly licensed photos from Wikimedia Commons (attribution in the raw results). Regions: CH, DE, US.

For every search we recorded: how many fashion pieces Remode detected in the image, how Remode labeled the top result (exact, best visual match or similar), how many shoppable offers and distinct stores came back for the first piece, and the wall-clock time. We did not measure whether a human would agree with each label, and we did not test competitors; this is a transparency record, not a benchmark against other tools.

Results at a glance

16 of 16

searches returned shoppable offers for the first detected piece: 291 offers across 178 distinct stores in total.

1 exact · 14 best visual · 1 similar

how Remode labeled the top result. A "similar" label means Remode found look-alikes but would not claim they are the same product; a "best visual match" means it found one strong candidate but is not certain it is identical.

31 pieces in 16 photos

8 photos contained more than one detected piece; each piece can be searched separately in the app.

14 to 26 seconds

per search, median 17 s, measured end to end from our client. The app and the browser trial show progress while this runs.

Every search, one row

"Top result" is the verdict Remode attached to its leading result for the first detected piece. "Offers" counts every shoppable result returned for that piece; "Stores" counts distinct retailers among them.

How to read this honestly

A low number of exact matches is not a failure of the test; it is the product doing what it promises. Several of these photos are candid shots of people in clothes whose brand is unknown, and one is a museum piece that is not sold anywhere. Remode labels such results as similar rather than pretending to have found the same item. Where the photo was a clean product image, the top result was the brand's own model at a retailer, labeled best visual match rather than exact because a product photo does not show the details that separate one release from another.

Limits of this run: it is one day's snapshot, prices and availability change, and openly licensed photos are not identical to the compressed screenshots most people search with. We will re-run and republish this battery when the search changes materially; the date at the top tells you which run you are looking at.

Run your own test

You do not have to trust this page. Open the browser trial, upload three of your own photos, and compare what comes back with what any other tool gives you for the same images. The guide Best apps to find clothes from a photo explains how to run a fair comparison.
